“Au milieu de l’hiver, j’apprenais enfin qu’il y avait en moi un été invincible.”
(“In the middle of winter, I finally learned that there was an invincible summer inside me”, Albert Camus).
I took this one a couple of weeks ago and planned to publish once autumn has finally arrived and remind us all again of this great great summer this year (see me cheering it also here). There is this huge field of sunflowers close to the city I come from and for weeks I planned to go there to take pictures. When I finally had the time to do it…the sunflowers have died already. This summer was so great, it killed its very symbol…paradoxical, isn’t it? I do hope, however, that you enjoyed this summer as much as I did…and I hope I’ll have the same revelation like M. Camus which carries me over the next six months….pfui deibl.
On a different note: Just came back from Berlin (exhausted as always), where I went to see “ye auld boys” of U2. What a special night…if you must know, they recorded a whole album (Achtung Baby!) there in Hansa Studios, so it was only natural to go see them play in one of the most important cities of their band history. It paid off: Out of Control (waited ten years to see it live) and Zoo Station, the most Berlin-related song, celebrated its tour premiere.
For those of you not into U2, try these “friends in my ears”: Ben Howard live in Paris, in particular Time is dancing or Esmeralda (though live at Glastonbury) or Stereophonics live in Paris.
I would like to thank Thomas for joining me on this trip and let me tell you, I had a blast! Es schreit förmlich nach einer Wiederholung…irgendwann…im Sommer…Tata!
As winter begins knocking on our door here in the North…

Unfortunately, the Starks (from Game of Thrones) are right: Winter is coming! But the next summer as well…something to hold on to during the next 6 dark months. Cheers!
